ACHOO!!!! A problem is just an opportunity in disguise.

I felt a little sniffly today and then tonight the sore throat and runny nose came upon me. My first thought was ,”eww”. My second was-”i need more handkerchiefs, must go online and order some pretty ones and maybe I can embroider them with my initial and whats softest because i dont want my nose to be red and chapped from rubbing…”. My 3rd, as I sulked toward the cabinet that contains tea, was,”Hmm, tea. Wonder what sort of concoctions I can make with my herbs.”
The sucky part about trying to eat and live well is that I dont get sick much. So I have all these herbs and remedies and we dont get sick enough to use them,so I cant test them to see how they work. BUT!! NOW I HAVE A COLD AND SORE THROAT! WOOHOO!!!!
Time to experiment. YES!!!
I have no ginger but what can I try? Bitter melon? Lemon thyme? Cuban oregano? Lemon balm? Lavender buds? A poultice of some sort? Hot culantro tea, perhaps a broth? Maybe if I eat the raisins that are soaking in rum….you know, cough drops?
FEVERFEW! I’ve never used my feverfew. I bet it tastes horrible. Horrible tasting remedies are always the best, it makes me feel like Im really doing something when I brew up something wicked and nasty. As if the taste alone scares off the ailment.
I revert to childhood (revert???) when Im sick and all of a sudden become very high maintenance. I pout on my sofa wrapped in my chenille throw, blowing my nose on overpriced hankies scented with Guerlain (Insolence, damn it just smells like Happiness.) I drink tea from m great aunts Good China with my feet propped on silk cushions and generally act like a big fat spoiled princess.A poor one, but at times like this a girl has to dig out all her best stuff. Im allowed though since I’m doing the pampering.
Lemon balm!!! I’m going outside to get some lemon balm to make something- tea, syrup, whatever. If i never post again, that means it didnt work as intended!!
